What the charities say about the trust | |

The support to The Blue Cross from Sir Peter's Trust is a huge endorsement from the racing industry of the value of rehabilitation, re-training and re-homing in giving horses a second lease of life. We so much appreciate the Trust's generous contribution towards the work carried out by The Blue Cross Equine Centres. The grant is enabling us to modernise our horse ambulance fleet and provide further fencing and field shelters to increase our capacity for horses at both our Burford, Oxfordshire and Northiam, East Sussex Equine Centres. |
The generosity of The Sir Peter O'Sullevan Charitable Trust has enabled the Brooke Hospital for Animals to continue its work in alleviating the suffering of equines working in India, Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan. Recent developments include a new wayside station in Pakistan, increased presence at equine fairs in India and an extra mobile team to work at brick kiln sites in Egypt. We are currently raising money to fund a new mobile clinic to work inside Afghanistan. |

Compassion In World Farming is the leading organisation campaigning for farm animals. Dependent totally on the generosity of our supporters, the annual donation from Sir Peter's Trust is a real life-saver and has helped jump start our international campaigns to halt the global growth of factory farming and to end the massive international trade in long distance transport of farm animals and horses for slaughter. |

World Horse Welfare is the world's leading international equine welfare charity and the official welfare arm of the Fédération Equestre Intemationale (FEI). In 2002, our 75th Anniversary, support from The Sir Peter O'Sullevan Charitable Trust helped the ILPH to rehabilitate nearly 300 horses - joining the 1,700 already on our loan scheme. It also helped us run courses in five developing countries and continue to campaign against the live transportation of horses for slaughter in the European Union. |

60,000 people work in the horseracing and thoroughbred breeding industry. Stud and stable staff work long hours in all weather conditions, facing potential dangers whenever they handle highly-strung Thoroughbreds. Falls and injuries can result in long-term disability, premature arthritis and rheumatism, causing early retirement. The industry should take care of the backroom boys. They don't always bounce back up from falls and sometimes need help. Racing Welfare is the only Charity able to provide support for these people. Our annual outgoings are now nearly £1m. We do not receive government funding and rely only on the generosity of people like you. Your money will help us provide financial support, mobility aids and holidays for the disabled, housing and emergency help. |

The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre is the original charity dedicated to the welfare of thoroughbred ex-racehorses and has led the field in raising awareness of the plight that many of these horses can face once they leave racing. The TRC would struggle to continue its work for these magnificent sport horses without the support of The Sir Peter O'Sullevan Charitable Trust. Without being able to rely on this generous annual income the TRC would find it even more difficult to continue its work. Sir Peter's concern and generosity to the TRC have made a very real difference to the welfare of over a hundred ex-racehorses in need. |
